
California has laws giving residents rights in their private, personal information that is collected by companies with whom they do business. Residents may be able to stop the transfer of their personal information or have that information deleted. Not all businesses are subject to the privacy law requirements – mostly they apply to large businesses.
Information collected by a MLS to market a seller’s property could be considered private, personal information. Most MLSs will not be covered businesses under the privacy laws. The CCPA is intended to make real estate parties aware of their rights under the privacy laws.
